In a sermon to be delivered to many senior figures in the legal profession in Scotland at the annual "Red Mass" in St. Mary's Cathedral in Edinburgh on Sunday (8 October) Bishop Philip Tartaglia will suggest that recent legislative measures in Scotland have, "recklessly jeopardised family life"  

Speaking to lawyers, advocates and a number of Supreme Court Judges during a Mass to celebrate the beginning of the legal year, the Bishop will urge Catholic law professionals to be guided by their "Catholic principles and conscience" and to use their influence, "to bring to the attention of legislators and others the value of public funding for programmes of marriage preparation and of marriage counselling which give a high priority to safeguarding and preserving the marriage bond"
