Bishops announce new National Coordinator for Safeguarding

Tuesday 3 September 2013

The Bishops Conference of Scotland has appointed a new National Coordinator for Safeguarding, who will take up the post on 1 December 2013. Tina Campbell, who is currently Head of Counselling Services Sandyford Greater Glasgow & Clyde NHS and Chair of British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy Healthcare Division has extensive experience in education, counselling and support work.

Announcing the appointment, General Secretary of the Bishops' Conference of Scotland, Mgr Hugh Bradley said;

"Together with the Bishops, I am delighted that Tina is able to take up the post of National Coordinator for Safeguarding. Her extensive experience and proven abilities in this field will be of great value to the Church in Scotland." I wish her every success and look forward to working with her."

Reacting to the appointment, Tina Campbell said;

"I am delighted to have been appointed as National Coordinator for Safeguarding by the Bishops' Conference of Scotland and determined to ensure that the work carried out by many experts and advisers over the past 15 years is developed and continues into the future. Society, quite rightly, has a heightened awareness of safeguarding matters today and as an organisation active in every part of Scotland we must continue to ensure that we provide a safe and secure environment for everyone who encounters the church in any way and to support those who have been harmed in the past."

Tina concluded;

"I look forward to working with the Bishops of Scotland, our clergy and the many dedicated people across the country who both implement and support our National Safeguarding policies and procedures in their parish communities. The work of Safeguarding is an important ministry in the Church and I am privileged to be appointed to this role"
