This is a unique event to Meet the Man behind the Machete - please see below for what Cardinal O'Brien had to say about it and bring a friend to Borders and meet John.

You are invited to send a reporter/photographer/camera crew

Commenting on "From Gangland to Promised land" John Pridmore's autobiography, Cardinal O'Brien said the book was;

A cautionary tale about one man's descent into a life of crime, drugs and violence. This searingly honest autobiography, by John Pridmore describes how the world of a happy-go-lucky eleven year old growing up in London s east end is shattered and destroyed by his parent's divorce."

"In turmoil, he slides into attention-seeking youth then adult crime. Intimidation and brutal violence become the norm, but the sight of one of his victims bleeding and motionless on a pavement causes reappraisal and ultimately dramatic change."

"This is above all a story of redemption. John returns to God and begins a painful but ultimately successful journey of recovery. A commendable slice of "real life" that celebrates humanity's capacity to change and God's endless capacity for love."
