Catholic Bishops speak out on marriage and the family.

At their meeting at Scotus College in Glasgow yesterday, the Bishops' Conference of Scotland issued the following statement:

"Among the many pastoral problems facing society today, we identify the family and marriage as amongst the most pressing. With this in mind we intend to convene an 'Open Forum' of catholic organisations and agencies concerned with marriage and family life. The aim of this gathering will be to encourage discussion and the sharing of best practice in the promotion of the Catholic vision of marriage based on scripture and Church teaching.

Invitations will be issued to relevant groups to a meeting early in 2003, details of dates, venue and participants will be released in due course."
