Speaking, following the death of the Queen Mother, Archbishop Keith O'Brien, President of the Bishops' Conference of Scotland, said today:

It was with great sadness, that we learned today of the death of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. Her life of outstanding service to others has been an example to many in our own country and around the world. At the same time, her wish to remain active in public service to the end of her long life, demonstrated a rugged determination, consistent with her Scottish roots.

She will be remembered in our prayers this Easter Sunday as will her family and friends as they mourn her loss."
