Following the recent letter from Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor to Pope Benedict XVI inviting him to visit England and Wales, the Catholic Bishops of Scotland remain hopeful that any such trip would include a visit to Scotland.

President of the Bishops' Conference of Scotland Cardinal Keith O'Brien said; "In the event that the Pope is able to accept the invitation from the Bishops of England and Wales the Bishops' Conference of Scotland will extend an invitation urging the Pope to spend some time in Scotland where he would be welcomed most warmly."
