Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger has been elected Pope.  

He has taken the name Pope Benedict XVI.  

Pope Benedict XVI is 78 years old and is from Germany.  

He was chosen on the third round of votes by the 115 cardinals meeting in the Sistene Chapel  
to select Pope John Paul II's successor.
