Ordination of new Bishop of Paisley

The Episcopal Ordination of Fr John Keenan as the new Bishop of Paisley will take place at St. Mirin s Cathedral in Paisley on Wednesday 19 March 2014 at 7pm.

Speaking ahead of his Episcopal Ordination Bishop Elect Keenan said;

I know Paisley is a wonderful diocese with good priests and people full of faith. I am looking forward to being with my brother priests, many of whom I already know really well, and getting to know the people and the parishes of the diocese.   I hope just to settle in and listen a lot.

The new Bishop will be consecrated by Archbishop Philip Tartaglia of Glasgow and the co-consecrators will be Archbishop Leo Cushley of St. Andrews & Edinburgh and Bishop John Mone, former Bishop of Paisley.

The Papal Nuncio, HE Archbishop Antonio Mennini, will attend, representing Pope Francis.

In a first for a Scottish Diocese, the Diocese of Paisley has produced a 16 minute biographical video production comprising interviews with the new Bishop. The film is designed to introduce Bishop Elect Keenan to the Diocese of Paisley and will be shown in the Cathedral and relayed to both the Cathedral Halls and the Lagoon Leisure Centre in Paisley, which will act as overspill venues. The film will be shown at 6.00pm.
