You are invited to a press conference at the Catholic Media Office on Tuesday 20 May at 11am when the new Director of the Catholic Education Service will be introduced and will be available for interview.

The announcement will be made by Bishop Joseph Devine, Bishop of Motherwell and President of the Catholic Education Commission.

Speaking before the press conference, Bishop Devine said;

"In appointing a director of a new Catholic Education Service,(CES) the
Church seeks to focus its efforts in promoting Catholic education by
recruiting a professional educationalist who can provide strategic direction for its work throughout the country."

He added;
"One of the Director's initial priorities in establishing CES will be to provide an authoritative voice for Scottish Catholic education both nationally and internationally. A variety of challenges will face the appointee here in Scotland . Among them; the development of the religious and moral education curriculum in all of our schools, development and implementation of a communications strategy designed to involve home, school and parish, engagement of catholic teachers in faith-based continuous professional development and the task of assisting diocesan advisers and others at local level with the implementation of these developments."

The press conference will begin at 11am (prompt) at the Catholic Media Office, 5 St. Vincent Place, Glasgow. 0141 221 1168
