Statement on shared campus proposals in North Lanarkshire from Bishop Joseph Devine.

"The Diocese of Motherwell welcomes North Lanarkshire Council s recently stated unequivocal commitment to Catholic schools. I appreciate their commitment to our ongoing discussions, about the design and layout of various schools.

My concern from the outset has been to ensure that there was a common understanding of how the design features of shared campus buildings could allow both school communities to develop their distinctive educational provision.

I remain committed to working with the education authority and with parents to ensure that catholic education flourishes and continues to set a standard for others to follow. I welcome North Lanarkshire's commitment to modernise facilities and provide enhanced learning environments for our young people."
