World famous Scottish singer Susan Boyle has described the opportunity to
sing for Pope Benedict XVI as "her greatest dream come true."

The Catholic Church to unveil details of the altar, chair and lectern which will be used by Pope Benedict XVI when he celebrates Mass in Glasgow next month. The marble structures have been designed by Glasgow artist Niamh Quail with assiatance from the University of Strathclyde’s “Rapid Prototyping Unit”

The Catholic Church in Scotland has to confirmed that Michelle McManus, TV and pop star, will perform before the Papal
Mass on 16 September at Bellahouston Park in Glasgow.

In a letter sent to all the Priests of the Diocese of Paisley on Monday 26 July 2010, Bishops Philip Tartaglia has described the Pope Benedict XVI’s Mass in Bellahouston Park in September as “a once-in-a-generation Mass with the Holy Father on Scottish soil.”

The Pope will arrive in Scotland on Thursday 16 September, the Feast of St. Ninian. Ninian was the 4th century Scottish saint who was one of the first to bring the Gospel of Christ to our land.

Speaking ahead of an expected decision later this month of the European Court of Human Rights in an appeal case relating to the display of religious symbols in public, Cardinal Keith O’Brien, President of the Bishops’ Conference of Scotland said:

Following a meeting with officials from Glasgow City Council on Friday 4 June the Bishops’ Conference of Scotland is delighted to confirm that Bellahouston Park in Glasgow has been offered as the venue for the 16 September open air mass celebrated by Pope Benedict XVI.
